Sunday, 18 February 2018
By Margot Thomas
BURGER LOVERS in Panama get to celebrate the longest “week” of the year in March, and the opportunity to feast on gourmet burgers across the city as 40 different chefs strive for the title Burger Master Chef 2017.
The fourth edition of Burger “week” will run March 10 to 20.
It is a gastronomic activity aiming to show that “hamburgers are not limited to bread, meat and cheese,” said a press release from the organizers.
The -gourmet offerings will not be at fast food chain prices and will range from $10 to $16 but will include a beer or ginger ale. Tourists will get a 10 percent discount and resident seniors will get the customary jubilado discount.
During the Burger week diners will have the opportunity to choose their favorite hamburger in a vote through the internet while a jury will choose six semifinalists to face each other on March 30 at the Hotel Riu, competing for the Burger Master Chef title. Tickets will be $30.00 and will be available on Panatickets.
From Monday, Feb. 20 information about the participating restaurants and their hamburgers will be available at http://burger.week.com.pa/
“Burger Week is a gastronomic activity aims to show different varieties of hamburgers that exist and are not limited to bread, meat and cheese,” said a press release from the organizers.
